Peter completes Indiana Librarian Leadership Academy

VINCENNES, Ind. - David Peter, dean of the Learning Resources Center at Vincennes University, completed the inaugural class of the Indiana Library Leadership Academy this summer at McCormick's Creek State Park.

The Indiana State Library’s Professional Development Committee established the Indiana Library Leadership Academy to prepare professionals for the challenges of the future. Participants discussed changes within the library industry, major societal and cultural changes in communities, indicators of upcoming change, and library stakeholders. The culmination of the Academy was the completion of a capstone project.

Peter joined the VU staff in 2006 as the director of VU’s Center for Teaching and Learning. He was named dean of the Learning Resources Center on July 7, 2011.

Peter holds a master’s degree in education from Texas A&M University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is pursuing a doctoral degree in educational technology specialization from Walden University.

Prior to coming to VU, Peter was an instructional design specialist for Indiana State University’s Center for Instruction, Research, and Technology, and Texas A&M University’s Knowledge Engineering Center.
