
VINCENNES, Ind. - “Cloudbursts and Dry Spells,” an exhibition of intermedia works by Leah Gauthier, will open on Sept. 27 at Vincennes University’s Shircliff Gallery of Art. The artist will present a talk about her works at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) at the gallery, followed by an opening reception at 11:00 a.m. The showing will continue through Oct. 25.
On Sept. 28, the artist will offer a Fabric and Embroidery Workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in the Shircliff Humanities Center, Room E215.
These events and admission to the Gallery are free of charge.
About the artist
Leah Gauthier is an intermedia artist using natural materials, live plants, and food as ephemeral sculptural materials to explore ideas of sustainability, simplicity, self-sufficiency, and community building. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in traditional and alternative museums and gallery spaces. She earned an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts University and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is an assistant professor of art at Butler University.
