Are you intrigued by the romance of an intimate picnic for two? Do you find that your picnics tend to fall short of your expectations? Then come to our class on how to plan the perfect picnic. You will not only learn how to prepare and pack a delicious meal, but will also develop and understanding of safety concerns related to picnics. This lost art is not only for Grandma anymore. Learn the techniques need to make homemade jellies and jams. It is fun and easy. When the class is over, you can take home your final project to show off to family and friends. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to give them gifts of love based upon fruits of your own labors? Food products and jars/storage equipment will be included in the fee.

Wow your guests at your next backyard event. Learn how to turn that plain watermelon or cantaloupe into one of many different designs. It is so easy, you can even include the entire family. And, the tools are yours to keep after the class. Join Amy Bowler for this fun-filled class. Amy has an AAS in Restaurant Management, and teaches part-time in the Culinary Arts Program here at VU. Garnishing tools and melons will be included in the fee.

CEN 160 Basic Home Cooking: Simply Soup & Salad!
This class is designed to use fresh-from-the-garden vegetables with fresh herbs & spices. You will not only learn how to prepare delicious and healthy summertime dishes, but also learn how to plate them up with that culinary flair seen in the finer restaurants. Once you learn these techniques, you will never want to go back to that old way again!
