Who's eligible for distance education library services?
Services on this Web page are offered to students, faculty and staff currently enrolled or involved in distance education courses through Vincennes University.
Catalogs and Databases
Below are the two methods for accessing the library's catalog and online databases.
Access Using the University Network
This method is using a computer connected to the University network. All campus sites (Vincennes, Jasper and the Indianapolis Aviation Technology Center) are on the University network. To access library databases using this method, go to the list of links found on the left side of this page to search Find Books (library catalog) or Find Articles (periodical and reference databases).
Access Using a Different Internet Service Provider
The second method is using a computer connected to the Internet through a different Internet Service Provider (AOL, Charter, Vincennes Online, etc.). This method is used by VU faculty, staff, and students who are accessing from home, work, or at a distance education site. To access library databases using this method, go to the MyVU Web site at http://myvu.vinu.edu/ and then follow the procedures below:
- Enter user name and password to log in to your MyVU account.
- Select VU Libraries from list of VU Links on left side of page on the MyVU page.
Databases
Databases labeled Indiana residents only are part of INSPIRE and are provided by the State of Indiana. By law, these are only available to Indiana residents. Indiana residents who use a national, regional, or out-of-state Internet Service Provider will need a password to access the INSPIRE databases (to obtain an INSPIRE password go to http://www.inspire.net/pass.html ). If you reside in another state, your state may have a statewide virtual library similar to Indiana's INSPIRE. Library Materials
Books, photocopies and other library type materials may be requested using the Interlibrary Loan form. Note: May want to check local library for materials.
