Imagine yourself as the air-talent on a popular radio station. Imagine yourself delivering the television evening news. Imagine yourself
shooting video sports highlights. Or, imagine yourself as part of the advertising sales team at a radio or TV station on the fast-track to station management or ownership.

THE VU ADVANTAGE
Vincennes University broadcasting students are involved in all facets of broadcasting. You’ll not only spend several hours a week on the air, but be involved in critical behind-the-scenes production work and share in the responsibilities of operating a station. Plus, VU is the only college in the nation where graduates receive the Radio Advertising Bureau’s Radio Marketing Professional certification.  As your talent and skills develop, so will your responsibilities. The bottom line? The broader your actual hands on experience, the more marketable you will be in this competitive field.

YOU’RE ON THE AIR!
VU broadcasting facilities consist of:

  • PBS television stations WVUT-TV22/WVUT-DT52
  • a 50,000-watt public radio station, WVUB, 91.1FM
  •  a 3,000 watt commercial radio station, WFML, 96.7FM
  •  two student FM/Internet radio stations.
a total of 14 radio and TV production studios.

WVUT-TV is a PBS-CNN affiliate broadcasting both analog and high definition. WVUT’s featured program is our live, local newscast where all on-air and studio work is performed by students with the help and supervision of the station staff. You will learn first-hand skills working on a variety of productions such as talk programs, legislative forums, election returns, basketball and the annual Miss Vincennes University Scholarship Program. The WTHI-TV Southern Indiana News Bureau is located at the television facilities. This is a cooperative effort with Vincennes University and Lin TV and is designed to help initiate students into the daily operations of commercial news.

WVUB-FM, Blazer 91.1’s radio format is pure energy, playing the current hits with a broadcast signal that spans a 50-mile radius and world wide coverage via the internet.

WFML-FM 96.7‘s radio format is hot country. The station is owned by the VU foundation and operated by the Media 5 group.
