COSMETOLOGY 7200

The field of cosmetology has expanded far beyond hair care and now includes total beauty treatments. Well-trained cosmetologists can offer a client everything from perfectly sculptured nails to a complete cosmetic makeover. Also, the clientele is changing as more and more men frequent salons.

VU PREPARES YOU FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE

In Vincennes University’s Cosmetology program, emphasis is on practical skills, professionalism, and business education. You will be prepared in all areas of cosmetology, including:

THE VU ADVANTAGE

As a Cosmetology major, you will spend a minimum of 26 clock hours each week perfecting your skills in the studio. You will advance from the basics, such as quick styling and manicuring, to the more advanced skills in permanent waving and hair coloring. You’ll also study anatomy and physiology as it applies to cosmetology. Upon completion of the two-year program, you will be eligible for state licensure.

EMPLOYMENT POTENTIAL

Although tasks may have changed during the years, the function of the cosmetologist remains the same — to help people look their best. With the current emphasis on youth and more women joining the workforce each year, the U.S. Department of Labor predicts job opportunities will be plentiful through the first part of the 21st century — especially for those who continue to update their skills.

Note: Recommended courses assume developmental requirements have been met.
