Bachelor of Science Degree
While most people are familiar with homeland security as it relates to our government and terrorism. it actually has a much larger scope. In an ever-changing society that demands and requires .public safety accountability, the career opportunities are almost limitless.

Some of the best opportunities are with business and private industry. These organizations are becoming increasingly concerned with protecting their assets and personnel who may be scattered throughout the world, as well as responding to disasters and emergencies. To help ensure that they are well-prepared for whatever situation may arise, businesses are demanding that their security people have the same quality training as government employees.

VU’s Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety is designed for this purpose. It was developed to strengthen the skills and educational level of all first responders by allowing students with an associate degree to complete an advanced inter-disciplinary baccalaureate degree.

Admission Requirements
An individual must have completed an associate of science in one of the following programs:

  • Conservation Law Enforcement
  • Loss Prevention and Safety 
  • Law Enforcement
  • Paralegal
  • Fire Science and Safety Technology
  • Emergency Management & Planning
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • or related field 
     Individuals that are six hours or less

Individuals who are six hours or less away from completing their associate degree will be admitted conditionally. Individuals that have completed the Associate of Applied Science in one of these programs will need to enroll in and complete the necessary math and humanities courses prior to being accepted into the B.S. degree. Current qualified VU students do not have to re-apply to the University. Students who are not currently attending Vincennes University will need to apply at the Admissions Office.

Cost
VU’s tuition is one of the best values in the state. Indiana residents pay $137.66 a credit hour for junior and senior level courses, considerably less than what other four-year institutions charge.
