Vincennes University offers flight and ground training leading to the private pilot certificate, commercial pilot certificate, and instrument rating. You may also earn the flight instructor certificate, instrument flight instructor rating, and multi-engine rating. The Airway Science option is for those students who are well prepared academically.
EARNING YOUR WINGS
The training for the private and commercial certificate and instrument rating is accomplished under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 141. This regulation allows you to earn a commercial pilot certificate in 195 flight hours instead of the 250 hours normally required. Your first semester will involve 45 clock hours of actual flight time, including 8 hours of solo flight.
The VU program is designed to be a balance of aviation classes and traditional academic subjects. Flight training is done at the Mid-American Air Center of the Lawrenceville-Vincennes Airport, a 3,000-acre facility with mile-long runways free of obstructions.
