BIOMEDICAL TECHNICIAN 8361

A career as a Biomedical Technician offers you the opportunity to specialize in biomedical and medical equipment.  You will install, repair, calibrate and provide preventive maintenance to ultrasound, defibrillators, telemetry, vital sign monitors and other vital medical equipment used in hospitals and medical facilities.

TOPICS YOU WILL STUDY

INTERNSHIPS AND CERTIFICATION
After completing -  or during your last semester  -  you may choose to accept an internship in a hospital’s biomedical electronics repair facility.  You will work directly under the supervision of their biomedical staff.  Once the internship has been successfully fulfilled and the time requirements are met, the AAMI can administer the CBET Certification examination.

TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT

PLACEMENT AND SALARIES
Students in Electronics received job offers with a starting salary between $30,000 and $40,000, excluding overtime. Some have received starting salaries over $42,000.   Graduates seeking jobs have over 95% placement rate.  Typical Biomedical Technician salaries for experienced technicians are $45,000-$65,000 per year, with some specializations making as much as twice that amount.

Note:  Recommended courses are for the A.A.S. degree and assume any developmental requirements have been met.  A.S. degree also available.
