Most of today’s auto body shop owners learned the body repair and painting trade by working in small shops and observing their fellow workers. Today’s workforce does not always have that option.

To earn good money in the collision repair trade today, you must have some type of formal training beyond high school. Any field of specialized automotive training requires the ability to use shop manuals, which are becoming more complex each year because of computer systems and other high tech devices. Students with below average reading or mathematical skills simply cannot meet the fundamental requirements of today’s job market.

Vincennes University has the program to help you become a successful technician in a body and collision repair shop.  Here's what you can expect:

• You will have 68 credit hours in frame straightening, alignment, painting, and refinishing.
• You will have the opportunity to improve your basic skills.
• Several courses will prepare you to own and operate your own business or manage a business for someone else.

Because of the materials used on trucks today, there is a critical shortage of people with the specialized skills required to service them. This specialized training is not available at any other Indiana institution, and as a VU graduate you will receive a strong competitive advantage over other job applicants.
