Network security has become extremely important in the field of Computer Networking, especially with the crime of identity theft occurring daily.  This escalating challenge has created a great need for network engineers to implement enhanced security techniques.  In addition, wireless technologies are being implemented at an increasing rate, because the need for connectivity has increased and existing cable technologies have fallen short.  Wireless networking presents special security issues that must be addressed in order to maintain a secure networking environment.  The Computer Networking Security and Wireless Specialist program is for those who wish to start or enhance their career in computer networking with a security emphasis.

Students will configure Cisco routers & switches and learn how to harden them against viruses and personal attacks.  Cisco’s front line of defense, the PIX Firewall, is extensively studied as well as Cisco’s wireless technologies and the security risks they present.  The Microsoft IT Academy and the Cisco Networking Academy enable you to learn from the latest in networking curriculum and laboratory equipment.  Classes in this program will help prepare you for the A+ , MCP , CCNA , MCSA-Security , SNRS , SNPA , and  AWLANFE certification

CERTIFICATION INCREASES YOUR EARNING POWER
Networking companies, as well as all major industries, require the security and wireless networking skills of this program.  Besides the professional networking degree this program offers, you have the opportunity to  enhance your networking portfolio by becoming certified.  While certifications require extensive reading, studying, and test preparation, the financial rewards are well worth the effort.  For your convenience, a certification exam center is located on Vincennes University’s main campus.
