COMPUTER NETWORKING SECURITY & WIRELESS 8256

Network security has become extremely important in the field of Computer Networking, especially with the crime of identity theft occurring daily.  This escalating challenge has created a great need for network engineers to implement enhanced security techniques.  In addition, wireless technologies are being implemented at an increasing rate, because the need for connectivity has increased and existing cable technologies have fallen short.  Wireless networking presents special security issues that must be addressed in order to maintain a secure networking environment.  The Computer Networking Security and Wireless Specialist program is for those who wish to start or enhance their career in computer networking with a security emphasis.
WHAT YOU WILL STUDY:

Network Installation
Cisco Wireless Technologies
CompTIA Security +
CompTIA A+
CCNA Certification
LAN Topologies

Network Troubleshooting
Cisco Router Security

Students will learn to configure Cisco Routers and Switches and how to harden them against viruses and various other forms of attack.  Cisco’s IOS based security features are extensively covered as well as well as Cisco’s wireless technologies and the risks they present to the network.  The Microsoft IT Academy and the Cisco Networking Academy, both of which we are members of, enable you to learn from the latest in networking curriculum and laboratory equipment.  Classes in this program will help prepare you for several professional certifications including Comp TIA A+, Cisco CNA, CCNA-Security, MCTS, and MCITP.

CERTIFICATION INCREASES YOUR EARNING POWER
Networking companies, as well as all major industries, require the security and wireless networking skills of this program.  Besides the professional networking degree this program offers, you have the opportunity to  enhance your networking portfolio by becoming certified.  While certifications require extensive reading, studying, and test preparation, the financial rewards are well worth the effort.  For your convenience, a certification exam center is located on Vincennes University’s main campus.
With a hands-on laboratory environment and industry recognized certifications, this degree will provide you with the skills needed to compete for those high paying IT Networking Security positions.
NOTE:  Recommended courses are for the A.A.S. degree and assume any developmental requirements have been met.
