This program is desinged to develop your talent and skills to a level thta qualifies you for an entry-level positioin in a dance or theatre studio. You will not only learn basic performance techniques, but you will learn how to interpret your movements through additional classes in performance, production, and acting.
WHAT YOU WILL STUDY
Your dance experiences will be enhanced through courses in theatre, music, and dance appreciation where you will begin to understand each one’s value to society and their individual roles in the modern world. While Dance Appreciation emphasizes historical progression of dance forms and prominent choreographers, it also helps you become more discerning and sensitive as a member of the dance audience.
PUT ON YOUR DANCING SHOES
Just because you have the talent to perform flawlessly doesn’t necessarily mean you’l l be able to teach others. For this you need a good foundation in basic principles and correct technique, and that’s what you’ll get through the various dance labs. Ballet. Tap. Jazz. Modern Dance. From simple vocabulary to progressively difficult maneuvers, the labs are where you will explore and develop your personal style.
THE VU ADVANTAGE
If there’s one area where individual attention really counts, it’s in the performing arts. At many colleges you would have to pay extra for the amount of one-on-one instruction you'll receive at VU. From the friendlly campus to a faculty that really caress, you'll feel a t home from the very first week. Plus, if you decide to continue your studies, you will be able to take additional courses to complete your associate degree in General Studies.
Note: Recommended courses assume any developmental requirements have been met.
