November 5, 2008
VINCENNES, IND. - Vincennes University will partner with Sodexo, Inc., in a non-perishable food collection campaign called “Cans Across America” on Nov. 12. Locally donated items will be distributed to the Vincennes Food Pantry and Bicknell Kerrusso Coffee Houst, which serve a growing number of local families who face need during difficult times.
The one-day effort will be part of the Sodexo’s national attempt to hold the “largest food drive by a non-charitable organization in a 24 hour period” and break the Guinness World Book record.
Sodexo, Inc., provides services at more than 530 colleges and universities and other facilities and has set a nationwide goal to collect more than 396,833 pounds of non-perishable food to break the record.
Non-perishable food items may be dropped off throughout the day on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Tecumseh Dining Center and the Beckes Student Union Food Court.
