Gaylor, McCormick, and Schach reappointed to new 3 year terms

VINCENNES, IND. – Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has reappointed three members of the Vincennes University Board of Trustees to new three-year terms. They include John R. (J.R.) Gaylor, Noblesville; C. James McCormick, Vincennes, and Eric J. Schach, Evansville.

Gaylor is the president and CEO of Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana. He was re-elected Oct. 6 as chair of the VU Board of Trustees.

A past chair of the VU Board, McCormick is chair emeritus of Bestway Express, Inc., Vincennes. Schach is vice president of Energy Delivery for Vectren Utility Holdings, Inc., Evansville.

“It has been a privilege to serve with Board members, administrators, and faculty who are focused on fulfilling VU’s statewide mission,” Gaylor said. “This is an exciting time as VU introduces new programs and facilities that are designed to prepare students for the promising careers of the future.”

VU’s State Center for Applied Technology is nearing completion on the Vincennes Campus while planning continues to construct VU’s Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics. A similar facility is also planned at the VU Jasper Campus. All three facilities are designed to provide workforce training to ensure that Hoosier employees are among the most competitive in the world.

VINCENNES UNIVERSITY

VU is a state-supported college with campuses in Vincennes and Jasper and additional sites such as the Indianapolis International Airport. In addition to offering 200 associate degree and certificate programs, VU also offers seven bachelor degree programs in technology, health care management, homeland security, nursing, and three secondary education programs in mathematics, science, and special education.

VU enrolls students from all 92 Indiana counties, 28 states, and 37 foreign counties. Tuition and fees are the lowest among Indiana campuses with residence halls. VU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Founded in 1801, VU is Indiana's first college and is the only college in the nation founded by an individual who would later become President of the United States. William Henry Harrison, the ninth U.S. President, founded VU while serving as governor of the Indiana Territory.
