Blackboard 9.1 Known Issues and Fixes

If you are having technical problems in Blackboard, check this list to see if there is a way to resolve your problem. This list will change whenever a new known issue comes up.

Area Issue Resolution/Work Around
Tests

"Access Denied" Messages During Tests.

Blackboard has determined a software bug in the Blackboard testing module can cause error messages of "access denied" to occur when multiple mouse clicks are made when clicking on submit or navigation buttons. Use only single left button mouse clicks to navigate, save, and submit answers. Do not use the enter key. Please be patient after clicking on a button for a response. Do not repeatedly click the button.

Tests

Student Are Not Able to Click to Save Answers While Taking a Test

This issue is due to the student using an old or unsupported browser while taking the test. The student should update the browser that they are using or switch to a different browser. Refer to this page to see a list of supported browsers for Blackboard 9.1. We suggest students use Mozilla Firefox when possible.

Discussion Boards

403 Apache Tomcat Error when accessing Discussion Boards.

This is a known bug in Blackboard. For a temporary fix, you can reset the participants role by performing the following steps:

  1. Go to discussion board.
  2. Next to forum title, click arrows and choose "manage".
  3. Under "display forum role" select particiapants and click "go".
  4. Check mark next to all participants name.
  5. Click arrows to edit role.
  6. Choose participant.
  7. You should see a green box saying "success" at the top.

If your are having this problem with your instructor ID then I will have to fix your role as it will not let you fix your own. If you cannot open then tell me which forums you need to open them in. You should be able to fix it for your students.
