Vincennes University offers three Baccalaureate Degree Education Programs:

Bachelor of Science in Special Education, Mild Intervention, Elementary
Education
The B.S. Degree in Special Education, Mild Intervention, Elementary Education is a
dual licensure
program designed to prepare teaching candidates to educate students who require mild special
education interventions within a variety of K-6 classroom settings and also to teach all
basic school subjects in the elementary education classroom. Vincennes University
offers this four-year program in a small setting with qualified professionals who provide teacher
candidates the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in the teaching profession and
also to guide the candidates as they begin to establish their own professional identities.
Field-based experiences give teacher candidates the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and
skills, observe and participate in a variety of settings, and become familiar with many different
educational environments.

Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics
Education
Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education
The B.S. and B.A. Degrees in Secondary Mathematics Education are designed to prepare
candidates to teach mathematics to students in a high school setting, Grades 9-12. The
secondary Mathematics Education program offers small class sizes and labs that are taught by
qualified professors, fully staffed laboratories that feature computer-aided instruction and
tutoring, early individualized attention to build a strong foundation for junior and senior level
courses, a program in which mathematical theory and practical teaching skills are blended
throughout the program, and opportunities to spend many hours in secondary classrooms beginning
with the first semester on campus. Further, teacher candidates have the opportunity to
interact and collaborate with other education majors, develop classroom management skills, and
facilitate student learning through the use of computers and technology.

Bachelor of Science in Secondary Science Education
The B.S. Degree in Secondary Science Education is designed to prepare candidates to
teach science to students in a high school setting, Grades 9-12. Teacher candidates may
choose from five concentration areas: (1) Chemistry, (2) Earth and Space Science, (3) Life
Science, (4) Physical Science, and (5) Physics. The secondary Science Education program
offers small classes instructed by caring and qualified faculty with a personal approach to
teaching, free tutoring within the Science Resource Center, theory and practical teaching skills
blended throughout the program, and multiple field experience opportunities beginning with the
first semester on campus. Further, teacher candidates have multiple opportunities to discuss
and share ideas with other education majors, develop classroom management skills, and learn how to
use computers and technology as educational aids.
