Architectural Studies/CAD Student Opportunities

tube.race.02-09-21.067_86186

To help develop student leadership and to enhance leaning, the Architectural Studies/CAD Program offers the Architectural Club and work-study and peer tutor opportunities. In addition the program also sponsors awards and scholarships to students that have demonstrated Academic and Professional excellence, while in the program.

The Architectural Club is a student ran club. The only requirement for joining the club is that you are majoring in Architectural Studies/CAD. Some of the activities that the club participates in are: the annual tube race at VU down the Wabash River, raising money to buy Christmas gifts for local needy families, various intramural sports activities, and raising money for an end of the year outing. Since all of the members of this club are from the Architectural Studies/CAD major this allows you to interact with other students that have the same interest as you.

Each year the Architectural Studies/CAD Program hires work-studies and/or tutors to assist students and faculty in the program. To be eligible you need to qualify to be a work-study through financial aid. The main duty for work-studies is to keep the drawing labs open during the evening so that students can complete out-of-class assignments. Other duties are assigned to work-studies by the faculty as needed. The main duty for tutors is to help first year students with their architectural program assignments.

The Architectural Studies/CAD Program gives the G.S. Ridgway Scholarship each year to a returning second year student or students. This scholarship is based on academic achievement during the first year and financial need. The scholarship is usually for a full year of tuition and books to be used during your senior year in the program. The program also gives an award annually to the Most Outstanding Senior at the Honors Convocation held on the morning of Spring Commencement.
