Printing Technology

The Printing Technology program develops the skills required for graduates to enter into or continue their education in the United States 3rd largest industry, Graphic Communications. Technology has transformed the printing industry into a more vibrant and exciting place to work by eliminating many of the manual operations commonplace a decade ago. Today’s careers are extremely professional, requiring a well-rounded education that demonstrates both high-level technical and managerial skills. These skills can be obtained in just two years at Vincennes University.

The program exposes students to a wide variety of printing and graphic processes. The program centers on the offset lithographic and flexography printing process. All students are required to enroll in a number of fundamental courses building the skill set required to explore the large number of advance communication courses including large-format sheetfed press operation and the full range of digital prepress courses with the most recent software applications.

Upon successful completion of the program, students can elect to enter the job market or continue their education at Vincennes University earning a baccalaureate degree in Technology.

Statistically, 93% of the graduates of the printing technology program are gainfully employed upon graduation. The remaining 7% either continued their educational opportunities or returned to campus to take advantage of the advance course work offered by the department. The most startling statistic about the program is that after five years well over 90% of the graduates are still employed in a graphic related position and a very high percentage of these individuals are in supervisory roles. No institution of higher education in the state of Indiana has the equipment found in the laboratories of the Printing Technology program of Vincennes University.
