Career opportunities are not limited to the typical field technician associated with surveying. Career opportunities include CAD positions in design, layout, Right-of-way acquisition specialist and mapping. The majority of career opportunities begin in the surveying technician role. Because of these opportunities, surveying and it's career opportunities are not gender biased. With the completion of classes, as well as work experience, it is possible to become a Licensed Land Surveyor in Indiana.
STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE PROGRAM: To help develop student leadership and to enhance learning, the Surveying Program offers an active Surveying Club which is sponsored by the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors. Work-study and peer tutor opportunities are also encouraged for all students.
The Surveying Program sponsors awards and scholarships to students that have demonstrated Academic and Professional excellence, while in the program.
TRANSFER OPTIONS:
Additional education is not required to find a quality career position. The Surveying faculty encourage students to pursue personal positions of leadership and responsibility within the profession. Additionally, the program provides opportunities for students to transfer directly to other post-secondary institutions such as IUPUI and Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan.
