The Executive Council, Student Senate, and the Vice Presidents' Council, form the
nucleus of student governance on campus. The VU Student Association (VUSA) student government
system is perhaps the most improved and the best organized in the history of Vincennes
University.
The Executive Council consists of:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Commissioner of Activities
- Commissioner of Honors and Elections
- Commissioner of Traditions and Programs
- Commissioner of Public Relations
Elections for the Executive Council are at the end of the spring semester. The
Executive Council recommends legislation to the Student Senate (among other duties).
Student Senate elections are held in the fall semester during the third week of
school. The Senate is made up of the Executive Council, two representatives from each residence
hall, ten off-campus representatives, four representatives from each class and two Greek Council
Representatives. Each year the Senate appoints committees to help improve student life. The Student
Senate is responsible for the expenditures of the entire Student Activities Fee.
The Vice Presidents' Council has as its members the vice presidents of all clubs on
campus. The council is the coordinating unit for VUSA social affairs, for all-campus projects and
activities, and for the promotion of club programs. Meetings are held on a monthly basis or when
needed.
Both the Senate and the Vice President's Council urge VUSA students to attend their
meetings. The student is free to express his/her desires, complaints, and recommendations, as the
student government is dedicated to the improvement of the college and student programs. Watch the
bulletin boards and campus publications for the time and place of council meeting.
