The Indiana Military Programs are divided into two separate categories; the Indiana Military
Program (IMP) and the Defense Finance and Accounting Services "DFAS" program.
The Indiana Military Program (IMP) was implemented in the fall of 1987 to
assist soldiers in the Indiana Army/Air National Guard and Indiana based United States Army
Reserves "USAR" units to meet the newly mandated education requirements established by the U.S.
Congress. Our unique program offers both specially developed credit courses and traditional college
courses. Classes are offered in National Guard armories, Reserve centers and Air National Guard
bases throughout Indiana and offers soldiers the opportunity to earn an Associates in Applied
Science or an Associate in Science degree in General Studies, General Studies-Business Studies
Option or Business Management.
The DFAS program is a continuation of the former Vincennes University, Fort
Benjamin Harrison center program that originally started in 1972 and transitioned to the present
program when the Fort officially closed in 1995. Vincennes University continues to offer courses on
site in the Bean Center (Building 1) leading to degrees in Accounting, Business Management, General
Studies and General Studies-Business Option.
Courses are available to all government employees both military and civilian and their
families.
