Vincennes University is a Servicemembers Opportunity College. SOC is a government
program created to assist military personnel and their family members in earning a college degree.
Schools belonging to the SOC system may accept nontraditional methods of education credit such as
CLEP tests, and have the ability to evaluate training schools and MOS/AFSC/Rates for college
credit.
A SOCAD/SOCNAV/SOCCOAST/SOCMAR Agreement is completed for each student after he/she
completes one course through Vincennes University and military experience is evaluated. The SOC
Agreement will state the requirements for General Studies Degrees, Navy College Program Distance
Learning Partnership Degrees, or ARNG 79T Degrees from Vincennes University, the credits received
from the military experience evaluation and any college transfer credit that may have been earned.
The agreement will also indicate what courses still need to be completed to earn the student's
degree.
A copy of the agreement will be mailed to the student, the ESO, the SOC office in
Washington D.C., and one will be retained at Vincennes University. SOC Agreements will be updated
upon request when additional materials are sent to the main campus for update and
re-evaluation.
