What is
Servicemembers
Opportunity
College
?
VU is a Servicemembers Opportunity College . SOC is a government program that was created to assist military personnel and their family members in earning a degree. Schools belonging to the SOC system may accept non-traditional methods of education credit such as CLEP tests and have the ability to evaluate schools and MOS/AFSC/Rates for college credit.
One of the forms filled out by all students is a SOCAD/SOCNAV. Once your materials are
evaluated, the SOCAD/SOCNAV Agreement will be computed and mailed to you. A copy of the agreement
will be mailed to your ESO, the SOC office in Washington D.C., and one will be retained at
Vincennes University
.
The SOC Agreement will state the requirements for a General Studies Degree from
Vincennes University
, the credits you have received from your evaluation, of the school or MOS/AFSC/Rate from
which the credits were earned. The agreement will also tell you what courses are still needed for
you to receive a degree.
Your SOC Agreement will be updated upon request when you send additional materials to be
evaluated.
