If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) looking to further your
education and career, this program is for you.
You will begin with the NURA 171 transitions course where you will review and
gain additional knowledge of medical-surgical
nursing and obstetrical nursing. Upon successful completion of NURA 171 with
a C or higher, students will receive advanced
placement credit for NURA 170 LPN Experiential Credit (11 credit
hours). These additional credit hours are granted without
charge to the student. All pre-admission courses must be completed
prior to beginning semester III nursing courses.
WHY VU or VUJC Nursing Programs?
At VU and VUJC, LPNs receive credit for their experience. Upon
successful completion of NURA 171, students enter the second year of the Associate Degree Nursing
Program.
A combination of nursing theories will be introduced in classroom lectures,
laboratory review, and related clinical experiences
provided in both acute and chronic health care facilities. You will
assist clients in the following settings:

Mental Health

Medical-Surgical

THE NEXT STEP
Upon successful completion of this program, you will be eligible to take the
NCLEX-RN examination to earn licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
