Academic Scholarships

Academic scholarships are awarded to non-transfer full-time freshmen who rank in the top ten percent of their high school graduation class or scored in the ninetieth or higher percentile on the GED test. (The student need not be a recent high school graduate or GED recipient.) The scholarships provide one-half tuition for the entire freshman year and are renewable for the second year upon maintenance of a 3.50 grade average. Since there is a limited number of these scholarships, an early application is important.

Vincennes University Jasper Campus Alumni Scholarship

Two ($500) scholarships are awarded each year to children of Vincennes University Jasper Campus graduates. Recipients must be full-time students. Special application forms are available from the Vincennes University Jasper Campus financial aid office.

WBDC Dubois County Broadcasting Scholarship

Provided by the proceeds of a trust established by Dubois County Broadcasting, Inc., this annual partial scholarship is intended to benefit those seeking careers in the electronic communication field. However, until such programs are available at Vincennes University Jasper Campus it will be available to a student in any curriculum who is not receiving any form of state of federal aid. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Max Meuser Memorial Scholarship

A partial scholarship, awarded each year, is provided from a fund established in memory of Max Meuser, Professor of History and Director of Student Services at VUJC for many years. Students must be enrolled at least half-time with preference given to students with a 3.0 or higher grade point average.

Second Chance Nursing Scholarship in Memory of
Bernie Vonderschmitt

These grants are provided from a fund established by Theresa Vonderschmitt in memory of her husband, Bernie Vonderschmitt. The full scholarships cover tuition, fees, and books each year to five new full-time students accepted into the VUJC Nursing Program. The scholarships are awarded to non-traditional students who have previous work experience. Interested applicants must address a letter to the Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee stating their financial needs and educational goals.

Raphael Blessinger Lion's Club Scholarships

One or more grants are made each year to either full - or part-time students not receiving any form of state or federal aid. These grants are awarded on a yearly basis and are not automatically renewable. An individual award could range up to $300. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Julius C. Buettner Memorial Scholarship

One or more grants are made to either full-or part-time students not receiving any form of state or federal aid. The grants are made through a generous gift provided in the will of the late Mr. Julius C. Buettner, a prominent local historian and promoter of learning. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Sr. Mary Walter Goebel Memorial Scholarship

A partial scholarship, awarded each year, is provided from a fund established in memory of Sr. Mary Walter, who taught science at Vincennes University Jasper Campus from its beginning in 1970 until her death in February 1990. The scholarship can be awarded to either a full- or part-time student. It is not automatically renewable. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Mauri Gutgsell Memorial Scholarship

Partial scholarships, awarded each year, are provided from a fund established by the Gutgsell family in memory of Mauri who believed in the value of education for all people. These scholarships are available to full- or part-time students and to high school graduates or GED recipients. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Arnold F. Habig Scholarship

One or more grants are made each year from the endowment established by Mr. and Mrs. Arnold F. Habig, benefactors of the Vincennes University Jasper Campus. The recipients must be non-transfer full-time students. Preference will be given to those who have a 3.0 (B average) or higher grade point average in high school or Vincennes University Jasper Campus or scored in the eightieth or higher percentile on the GED (The student need not be a recent high school graduate or GED recipient). Awarded on a yearly basis, the grant is not automatically renewable. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Mabel L. Kuebler Memorial Scholarship

A partial scholarship awarded each year is provided by the estate of the late Mabel L. Kuebler. The recipient must be a full-time student not receiving any form of state or federal aid. Awarded on a yearly basis, the scholarship is not automatically renewable. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee.

Patoka Valley Bank Advisory Group Scholarship

Funds for this scholarship are provided by member institutions of the Patoka Valley Bank Advisory Group. An award of $500 will be made annually to a banking and finance major enrolled at least half-time. Special application forms are available from the financial aid office.

Robert and Vivian Seng Memorial Scholarship

A partial scholarship is provided by the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Foundation in memory of Robert and Vivian Seng, benefactors of the Jasper Campus. The scholarship is awarded to the highest academically ranked first-year full-time student, based on the student's high school record. This award is in addition to any other financial aid for which the student might be eligible.

Cheryl Harder Stiles Memorial Scholarship

A partial scholarship is awarded each year in memory of Mrs. Stiles, a 1976 graduate of the Jasper Campus. The recipient must be a full-time student not receiving any form of state or federal aid. Awarded on a yearly basis, the grant is not automatically renewable. Those interested must address a letter stating their financial needs and their educational plans and goals to the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Scholarship Committee. .

Rumbach Journalism Scholarship Award

This scholarship is provided by the Jasper Herald Co., publisher of The Herald of Dubois County, and consists of two wards: $150 each semester to the student selected as editor of Gleanings, the Vincennes University Jasper Campus student newspaper, and $100 each semester to the associate editor.
