Accessible Housing

Room Assignments:   Residence hall rooms are available for students who need accessible or unique accommodations due to a disability or chronic health problem. Since there is a demand for housing, students should apply for housing as soon as they know they will be attending VU.   Students requesting a housing accommodation should check the appropriate box on the housing application and provide disability documentation to the Office of Disability Services.  The Vincennes University Housing and Residential Life Office will review the request and may consult with Disability Services in determining appropriate housing assignments.

Safety:  Safety of students in Vincennes University housing is a primary concern and requires the cooperative effort of those who live in and work in the halls.  The university provides numerous measures to increase the safety of all students living on campus.  For students who might have problems with evacuation during an emergency, Disability Services compiles a housing evacuation list for police and fire safety officials to be used for priority evacuation and safety verification.

Student Disability Parking

A handicap permit allowing special parking arrangements may be issued by the Vincennes University Police Department to a university student or employee who is temporarily or permanently handicapped.  Prior authorization must be obtained.  The handicap permit must be displayed in addition to the regular permit.  Parking a motor vehicle which does not display a handicap permit in an area reserved for the disabled, is prohibited and will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Please direct inquiries to VU Campus Police at 812.888.5555.
