Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services is committed to providing equivalent educational opportunities to students with disabilities by making the Vincennes University campus, programs, and services accessible.  Students with any type of documented disability may receive support from this office.

The Office of Disability Services:

  • Maintains disability related documents,
  • Certifies eligibility for services, and
  • Determines reasonable accommodations.

In partnership with students, faculty, and staff our purpose is to achieve an educational environment where students with disabilities have the opportunity to achieve academic, career and personal goals.

Academic accommodations and services are provided on an individual basis determined by documented need.  Documentation, completed by a qualified professional, must be on file in the Office of Disability Services.  For more information, see documentation guideline links provided for specific disabilities.

Vincennes University complies with the requirements set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to assure the rights of individuals with disabilities to fair, non-discriminatory treatment.

Additional information in a printer-friendly format is available by clicking on the links below.  Students and their families to read through the Guidelines for specific disabilities, and to provide a copy of these Guidelines to their local professional who will supply the required documentation of the disability in order to obtain an accommodation.  Students and their families should also read through the Procedures for Requesting Accommodations.  Students with physical disabilities may also find it helpful to read information provided regarding Accessible Housing and Parking at VU.

Finally, all students who have disabilities, and their family members, should read the documents The Big Difference Between High School and College and Differences in Disability Rights and Responsibilities Between High School and College for an explanation of new responsibilities in the college setting.
