At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

#2 Vincennes University’s Starters Combine for Three Double-Doubles in Win Over Southeastern Illinois

Harrisburg, IL – The #2 Vincennes University Trailblazers kept their undefeated season alive after a 98 – 61 victory in a District 16 matchup with the Falcons of Southeastern Illinois.

This game started the way many Trailblazers fans have grown accustom to this season, with VU jumping out to an 11 – 0 lead. After that, things did not get much better for the short-handed Falcons, Vincennes ended the first 20 minutes of play with a 26-point lead. Vincennes’ offense was obviously in rhythm in the early portion of this game shooting a staggering 54.8% from the field in the first half.

The Trailblazers defense nailed down their 17th victory of the season in the second-half, forcing the Falcons players to commit 26 turnovers. VU also did not afford Southeastern Illinois many second-chance opportunities throughout the game, only allowing 3 offensive rebounds.

Three of the VU starters ended their nights with double-doubles sophomore Isaiah Tisdale and freshman Ty Gadsden each recorded their first double-doubles of the season with 13 points, 10 assists for Tisdale and 11 points, 10 assists for Gadsden. Freshman Lony Francis, Jr. recorded his third double-double of his career with a team-high 21 points and 14 rebounds. The Trailblazers offense also recorded assists on 32 of their 42 made field goals for the game.

Vincennes continues to take their unbeaten season on the road next week when they head to Lewis & Clark on Wednesday, January 17th. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. eastern. The next Trailblazers home game will be on Saturday, January 20th, when VU hosts Lake Land College.
