#2 Vincennes University Trailblazers Continue to Roll Improving to 16 – 0 After Victory Over Owens Community College

Vincennes, IN – The #2 Vincennes University Trailblazers continue their unbeaten season with an 87 – 60 win over Owens Community College.

The first-half of this game was a back-and-forth contest, rarely seen outside of a District 16 match-up. There were 9 lead changes and 4 times when the score was tied in the first 20 minutes of action. VU’s backcourt duo of sophomore Isaiah Tisdale and freshman Ty Gadsden took on the role of scorers early on, combining for half of the Trailblazers 40 first-half points. Tisdale also became involved in the rebounding portion of the game, tying freshman George Dixon for the leading rebounder with 5 each. VU and Owens were very close in most statistical categories early in the game, except rebounding. The Trailblazers outrebounded the Express 22 – 10 in the first-half, and only allow Owens to bring in 1 offensive board.

After a bit of half-time coaching from head coach Todd Franklin, and assistant coaches Brian Davis and Willie Wiley, the Trailblazers seemed the come out of the locker room determined to take control of this game. The lead changes ended, Owens never tied the game in the second-half, just VU looking to keep their unbeaten season alive. The overall tale of this game can be found in the ‘Personal Fouls’ column of the box score. Players from Vincennes and Owens committed 49 fouls in this bruising contest. The recipient of many of these fouls was Isaiah Tisdale who found his way to the free-throw line 13 times tonight.

Tisdale was the games leading scorer with 22 points, he also finished the night with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Sophomore Sehill Mouliom came off the bench to score 10 points, along with fellow sophomore Rade Kukobat who finished the night with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Recording his second double-double in 10 games this season.

The Trailblazers will be on the road next when they travel to take on Southeastern Illinois on Wednesday, January 10th, as part of a men’s and women’s double-header. The tip-off of the men’s game scheduled for approx. 8:30 eastern. The next Trailblazers home game will be two weeks from today, Saturday, January 20th, when the face-off against Lake Land College.
