#2 Vincennes University Trailblazers Remain Unbeaten After Victory Over District 16 Rival Olney Central

Vincennes, IN-The #2 Vincennes University Trailblazers improved to 13-0 after a hard-fought 85-63 win over District 16 rival Olney Central.

The first-half was a very exciting hard-fought battle as usual from any Region 16 match-up. Sophomore Rodney Culver, Jr. was the Trailblazers leading scorer at the break with 8 points, fellow sophomore Isaiah Tisdale along with freshman Ty Gadsden each followed closely behind Culver with 7 points each. One of the philosophies from the VU coaching staff tonight must have been to not allow Olney Central to get any second chances on offense because the Trailblazers went in to half-time having not given up an offensive rebound.

VU came out of the half-time break firing, jumping out to a 59-39 lead. The Trailblazers shot 54% from the field in the second half, including shooting 6 of 9 from 3. Isaiah Tisdale began the half by driving to the basket past the Blue Knights defenders for easy lay-ups. The scoring continued as Rodney Culver, Jr. made 2 of his 4 3-point baskets in quick succession. The Vincennes defense also refused to let up only allowing 1 offensive rebound by Olney Central all night. Freshman George Dixon was counted on down the stretch of the game to help bring in missed shots, ending the game as the leading rebounder with 11.

4 Trailblazers managed to reach double-figures in points; Tisdale finished with 20, Culver, Jr., with 18, Gadsden with 14, and freshman Keith Clemons with 10. Tisdale also brought in 7 rebounds, and Gadsden added 4 assists.

The Vincennes University Trailblazers next game will be on the road when they take-on the Volunteers of John A. Logan on Monday, December 18th, in Carterville, IL. This game is the second-half of a men’s and women’s double-header, with the men’s game set to start at approx. 8 p.m. eastern.
