Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

#23 Vincennes Lady Trailblazers Finish Off Sodexo Classic on High-Note with Win Over Indiana Tech JV

In the final game of the 2017 Sodexo Classic, #23 VU 98 Indiana Tech JV 54. Freshmen Janiya Davis lead all scorers with 20 points, sophomore Mykel Roth finished with 17 and 8 rebounds.


First-half of action was a tightly contested ball-game with the Lady Trailblazers going into the 2nd quarter with only a 5-point lead, and extending that to 13 by the end of the half. Sophomore Mykel Roth was a bruiser underneath the basket, having 4 of her 6 first-half rebounds on the offensive end, helping her jump out to a game-high 12 points by the break.


The second-half was where the Blazers’ offense really began to jell, scoring 56 points in the final 2 quarters. Freshmen Janiya Davis took over after half-time scoring 17 of her game-high 20 points in the second-half, on 6 of 8 shooting from inside the 3-point arc. The Vincennes defense also had an impact on the second- half offensive surge forcing the Lady Warriors to commit 24 turnovers, 11 of which were steals.


Freshmen Christina De La Cruz played extremely well running the VU offense in her first career start at point guard, holding her own with 8 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Sophomore Claudia Stan had an excellent game as well, breaking double-figures in points for the second time this season with 14.


The Lady Blazers will be in Pamana City, Florida next weekend as they face off with #1 Gulf Coast State on Friday November 10th at 7 p.m., and #7 Tallahassee on Saturday November 11th at 3 p.m.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
