Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

#3 Vincennes University Trailblazers Remain Unbeaten Victory at Kaskaskia

Centralia, IL – The freshman duo of Ty Gadsden and Lony Francis, Jr. combine for 39 of the Trailblazers 70 points in a 70 – 58 victory over the Blue Devils.

Vincennes University got off to a slow start which saw them down early by the score of 16 – 10, before the Trailblazers went on a 20 – 3 run, which propelled VU to a 34 – 30 lead at halftime. Early in the second half, the Trailblazers jumped out to the largest lead of the game at 56 – 36. Vincennes road this wave all the way to the final buzzer capping off their 22nd straight victory of the season and keeping the unbeaten season alive.

Freshman Ty Gadsden was the games leading scorer with 21 points, also adding 4 assists and 3 rebounds. Gadsden was responsible for each to VU’s 3 3-point field goals. Fellow freshman Lony Francis, Jr.  ended his night with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Sophomore Rade Kukobat recorded his fourth double-double of the season, coming off the bench, and his seventh career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in his return from a 2-game absence.

Vincennes University will be on the road again this weekend on Saturday, February 3rd, when the Trailblazers travel Robinson Illinois to take on District 16 rival Lincoln Trail College. This game is part of a men’s and women’s double-header with the VU Lady Trailblazers tip-off scheduled for 6:30 eastern, and the men’s game to follow at approx. 8:30 eastern.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
