#4 Vincennes University Goes Undefeated at Home with Win Over Lewis & Clark College

Vincennes, IN – The #4-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers capped of an 18 – 0 season inside of the Physical Education Complex. This marks the 17th time the Trailblazers have been undefeated at home during their history.

Lewis & Clark College controlled the pace of play during the early stages of the game, not allowing VU’s offense to get into rhythm. Vincennes held an 11-point halftime lead though, on the backs of sophomore Rade Kukobat (9 points, 5 rebounds) and freshman Lony Francis, Jr. (6 points, 7 rebounds).  Lewis & Clark’s defense did not give Vincennes many chances to get good looks at the basket either, with VU only making 13 first-half field goals. L&C wanted to play a slow, defensive style of game, and Vincennes battled through, with 20 combined turnovers in the first 20 minutes of play.

Vincennes controlled the second-half though, outscoring Lewis & Clark 50 – 18. History has made at the 17:17 mark in the second half as sophomore Isaiah Tisdale buried a 3, which made him the 38th player in Trailblazers history to reach 1,000 career points. Tisdale connected on both of his 3-point attempts this game, on his way to a game-high 19 points on the night. VU as a team shot considerably better from the field in the second period as well, shooting 64% from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. VU pulled away from Lewis & Clark in large part because they made 18 of 24 at the free throw line. Another main advantage Vincennes garnered was in the rebounds column of the box score, VU out rebounded L&C 44 – 20, including 13 offensive rebounds for Vincennes.

Isaiah Tisdale lead VU with 19 points and 4 assists on sophomore night. Lony Francis, Jr. finished out his night with his 6th double-double on the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Freshmen Keith Clemons and Ty Gadsden each came off the bench to add double-figures in points, with Clemons having 12 points and 4 rebounds and Gadsden’s 10 points and 3 assists. Rade Kukobat finished his night with 10 points and 5 rebounds, in his final game at the P.E. Complex. Vincennes would also like to recognize the other sophomores tonight; Sehill Mouliom, Hughes Mbumba, Nikola Andric, CJ Hedgepeth, and Rodney Culver, Jr.

VU will be on the road next when they take on Lake Land College on Tuesday, February 27th. Tip-off of this game is scheduled for 8 p.m. eastern.
