At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

#4 Vincennes University Wins Hard-Fought District 16 Match-up with Kaskaskia

Vincennes, IN-The #4 Vincennes University Trailblazers defeated fellow District 16 team Kaskaskia Blue Devils by the score of 84-65. Sophomore Isaiah Tisdale lead all scorers with 23 points, followed by fellow sophomore Rodney Culver, Jr. with 17.

In the first-half Vincennes played a very unselfish game as the leading scorer only had 8 points. The Trailblazers also shared the ball well as the recorded assists on 9 of their 15 first-half field goals. Freshman Keith Clemons provided an early spark connecting on back-to-back 3 pointers, ultimately going into halftime with 8 points. Clemons along with Isaiah Tisdale were the leading scorers for Vincennes at the break.

The second-half lived up to the billing of a “District 16 match-up”, and provided those in attendance with a back-and-forth, physical game. The second-half of this game was fought inside the paint, close to the basket as Vincennes only shot 10 3-pointers in and Kaskaskia only attempted 1. The key for the Trailblazers victory can be found when looking in the rebounds column of the box score as VU won the rebounding battle 40-24. Vincennes’ defense also had a noticeable impact on Kaskaskia forcing them to commit 12 of their 18 turnovers in the second-period.

As mentioned previously Isaiah Tisdale was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points, also adding 4 assists. Rodney Culver, Jr. was VU’s second leading scorer with 17 points. Sophomore Rade Kukobat and freshmen George Dixon and Lony Francis helped the Blazers out-rebound Kaskaskia with Kukobat and Dixon having 8 rebounds and Francis pulling in 7.

The Trailblazers will be back in action on Friday, November 24th, as they take on Fort Scott College in Park Hills, Missouri. The Blazers next home game will be Wednesday, November 29th when they face Lincoln Trail College in game 2 of a men’s and women’s double-header. Their game will tip-off at 7 p.m. eastern.
