#5 Vincennes University Trailblazers Overpower Short-handed Southeastern Illinois College

Vincennes, IN – Southeastern Illinois only had 8 players dress for their match-up with the #5 Vincennes University Trailblazers, who defeated the Falcons 105 – 40.

The Trailblazers set the tone early starting off the game on a 21 – 0 run. The early spark was made by the guard play of sophomore Isaiah Tisdale and freshman Ty Gadsden who combined for 28 first-half points, and from the inside presence of freshman Lony Francis, Jr. who made all 6 of his field goal attempts in the first 20 minutes, going into halftime with 13 points. VU out-rebounded the Falcons 24 -10 in the first-half, with the Trailblazers grabbing 7 offensive rebounds with 7 different players, and only allowing Southeastern Illinois to get 1 offensive board in the first period. The Trailblazers lead got as high at 41 in the first half, and VU went into the locker room with a 60 – 23 advantage.

Vincennes looked to make the final 20 minutes of this game a learning experience for their players, giving their bench players large amounts of playing time in the second-half. Freshman Keith Clemons was a leader off the bench with 11 points on 3 of 5 shooting from 3. Sophomore Rade Kukobat had another solid performance off the bench with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Sehill Mouliom got the crowd in attendance at the Physical Education Complex on their feet with a pair of huge dunks down the stretch, including an alley-oop from Clemons. Credit needs to be given to the Southeastern Illinois players though. The all-freshman Falcons refused to give up or quit no matter what the scoreboard said.

VU improves to 26 – 1 on the season, with a 17 – 0 record at home, after a 105 – 40 victory. Ty Gadsden with the leading scorer for the Trailblazers with 21 points and 7 assists on the night. Isaiah Tisdale finished close behind with 20 points and 6 assists. Lony Francis, Jr. added 17 points and 8 rebounds, along with fellow freshman big-man George Dixon who was the games leading rebounder with 8 points and 11 boards, 6 offensive rebounds. Vincennes out-rebounded the Falcons 61 – 16 on the night, and managed to shoot an even 50% from the field, including hitting 11 3’s.

Vincennes will have a week off before their next game, their final home game of the regular season, against Lewis & Clark College. This game will be on Saturday February 24th and will tip-off at 7 p.m. eastern.
