#4 Vincennes University Improves to 3-0 in District Play After Win Over Lincoln Trail

Vincennes, IN-The #4 Vincennes University Trailblazers continue to roll in this young season, improving to 11-0 overall, and 3-0 within District 16, after a 101-64 victory over Lincoln Trail College.

The first-half game plan worked to perfection as the Trailblazers went into half-time with a 48-24 lead. Freshman Ty Gadsden lead the scoring early as he had 18 points by the break. The VU offense wasn’t the only part of their game that was impressing the fans in attendance at the Physical Education Complex though. The Trailblazers’ defense forced Lincoln Trail to take tough shots in route to a shooting percentage of 32%, but the Blazers’ big-men were dominant on the boards, not allowing the Statesmen to have an offensive rebound in the first 20 minutes of action. Vincennes out rebounded Lincoln Trail 30 to 12 at half-time.

The Trailblazers didn’t seem to lose any momentum coming out of half-time as they continued to find easy shots close to the basket. The star of the second-half would have to be sophomore guard Isaiah Tisdale, who recorded 18 of his game-high 24 points after the half-time break. The VU bigs continued to claim many of the games missed shots as rebounds, ultimately out rebounding Lincoln Trail 53 to 25, and only allowing the Statesmen to record 4 offensive rebounds.

4 Vincennes players reached double-figures tonight with Isaiah Tisdale leading all scoring with 24. Ty Gadsden finished the night with 20, along with fellow freshmen Keith Clemons and Lony Francis who had 13 and 12 respectively. Francis also had his second career double-double by pulling in 12 rebounds. Sophomore Hughes Mbumba led the Trailblazers rebounds attack with 17 rebounds as well.

The #4 Vincennes University Trailblazers will be on the road this weekend as they face-off against another District 16 opponent, Shawnee, on Saturday December 2nd which is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m. eastern. The next VU home game will be the following Saturday, December 9th, as when the take on Olney Central in a men’s and women’s double-header.
