At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Roth’s Late Free Throws Lead Lady Trailblazers to 7th Straight Win

Carterville, IL-The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers defeated District P opponent John A. Logan 79-76, led by Maggett, Roth, and Easley.

Anytime John A. Logan and Vincennes meet up on a basketball court, men’s or women’s, one thing can always be counted on; the game will come down to the very end. Tonight’s game lived up to the hype. Even after the Lady Trailblazers jumped out to a 10-point half-time lead, Vincennes knew they were in for a 40-minute battle.

VU got veteran performances from sophomores Ladellia Maggett (27 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds), Mykel Roth (16 points, 6 rebounds, 12 of 18 free throws), and Claudia Stan (7 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks). As well as a big night for freshman Marquitta Easley (15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals).

The Lady Trailblazers do not take the floor again until after the holiday break, returning to action on Saturday, January 6th, as they host Owens Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. eastern.
