At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Bergman Chooses Lindenwood-Belleville to Continue Volleyball Career

Vincennes, IN – Transfer Sophomore Abigail Bergman has chosen Lindenwood-Belleville University as the place that she will continue the next two years of her academic and athletic career.

“I am super excited to have this opportunity to keep playing the sport I love while also getting my education. Lindenwood-Belleville is a lot closer to home for me and my family will be able to come to more games, which is really exciting!” Said Bergman about signing with Lindenwood-Belleville.

Bergman came to Vincennes this season as a transfer from Missouri West Plains, and showcased all season why she had been one of the key pieces that helped the Grizzly climb to one of the top 10 ranked volleyball teams in the NJCAA during her freshman year. As a sophomore this year at VU, Bergman served as a defensive specialist and libero for the Trailblazers. She played in all 38 games, and was 2nd on the team in digs with.

Coach Sien said of Bergman, “It was a huge asset having Abby transfer in from Missouri West Plains, especially with the rich history of success she had there. She had a history of playing at a high level there, she played at a high level during her time at VU, and I know she will continue to play at a high level during her time at Lindenwood-Belleville. The location is a little closer to home for her, and it will be a great place that she can foster a large amount of success at. Abby has great leadership qualities, and is someone that I think can contribute for them right away.”

Bergman will be joining a Lynx team that had the best year in program history under Coach Phillips. The team finished above .500 at 18-and-12, and had solid success in a very, very competitive conference schedule that included multiple teams that made the NAIA National Tournament.
