At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Da Silva Chooses Florida International

Vincennes, IN – Vincennes University Sophomore and 13-time All-American Anais Da Silva chose to sign her National Letter of Intent with the Panthers of Florida International yeterday evening in the Vincennes University PE Complex.

“I am really excited to continue my running career at FIU. I visited the campus, and I just felt like everything fit. I loved the campus, it was close to the beach, they had several girls for me to train with, and I really enjoyed the coaching staff.” Said Da Silva on choosing FIU.

Da Silva will leave Vincennes University as maybe the most successful distance runner in the program’s history. She has garnered 13 All-American awards, finished in the top-5 at a national meet 5-times, holds 9 school records, and is top-5 in VU history in: the 1,000 meter run, the Mile, the indoor 3,000 meter run, the indoor 5,000 meter run, the 1500 meter run, the outdoor 5,000 meter run, the outdoor 10,000 meter run, the 5,000 meter in cross country, the half-marathon, the 4x800 meter relay, and the distance medley relay.

“I am really happy with my decision to attend Vincennes University before going to a bigger college. I felt like I was so much better prepared academically, and I improved a lot as an athlete. I will greatly miss my teammates, my coaching staff, and my professors. I cannot thank them enough. Even though I’m going to FIU, I will always be a Trailblazer at heart.” Said Da Silva when asked about leaving VU.

She will looke to wrap up her career by earning her 14th All-American award at the NJCAA Half-Marathon Championships in Topeka, Kansas! Race time is set for 10 a.m. EST on Saturday! Go VU!
