At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Hall leads VU Track & Field in successful season-opener

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – In a meet that wasn’t team-scored, the Vincennes University Track & Field Teams started off their 2015 indoor season with a very successful day Saturday at the Wabash College Robert H. Johnson Little Giant Invitational.

The Trailblazers’ efforts included a new VU school record, eight NJCAA Indoor National Championship Meet-qualifying efforts and several event wins.

The national qualifiers were: Jacques Hall, 60 Meter Dash (school record); TaPring Goatee, One Mile Run; Isaiah Thomas, Long Jump; Eric Blackman, High Jump; Kenneth Lloyd, High Jump; Kaitlyn Moricz, Pole Vault; Trey Kennedy, Pole Vault and Candela Guijarro, High Jump.

Several VU athletes won events. The complete meet results are attached (*Note: VU’s Hanna Wise won the 400 Meter Dash but it was omitted in the results).

“This was a very solid start to the season. The hard work many of the athletes have been putting in is already beginning to show,” said VU Coach Chris Gafner. “We had several qualifiers and many more athletes that were very close to qualifying. We have to keep working hard so we can continue to better our performances in the coming weeks."
