Lady Trailblazers Crash Lakers Homecoming, Win in 3

Mattoon, IL – The Vincennes University Women’s Volleyball team picked up their 2nd win of the season over the Lakers of Land Land Community College in straight sets: 25-21, 25-19, 25-16 on what was homecoming night for LLCC.

“We faced another team on a roll as Lake Land had won 4-out-5 matches coming into tonight. On top of that, it was their homecoming, and the schools 50th Anniversary. Needless to say, they had plenty of motivation. The last two sets were pretty decisive as we served strong, blocked well, and executed on offense. We will have some well-deserved time off before a match on Tuesday, and our last home tournament next weekend.” Said Coach Sien.

The Lady Blazers saw another massive night by Sophomore Gabrielle Medrado, who tallied 30 set assists for the 4th time this season. Sophomore Genesis Milisde led the team in kills with 12. She was joined by sophomore Erica Kik with 8, freshman Mackenzie Haworth with 7, and sophomore transfer Yasmene Leath with 7. Leath also notched 3 blocks, while the team was led by freshman Baylee Lippincott with 4 blocks. Sophomores Hannah Bullock and Abby Bigler again led the Lady Blazers in digs with 14 & 12 respectively.

VUVB will return to action this Tuesday at 7 p.m., as they travel to Robinson, IL to take on Lincoln Trail!
