At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

Lady Trailblazers Rebound with Win over Ancilla

Vincennes, IN – The Lady Blazers Volleyball team captured their 12th win of the season by rebounding to a straight set victory: 25-14, 25-12, 25-22 over Ancilla, after dropping a tough game to #6 ranked Indian Hills Community College earlier in the day.

The Trailblazers jumped out early on the Chargers of Ancilla, rattling off 7 straight points before Ancilla would finally answer, and stop the bleeding. The Lady Blazers kept their foot on the gas pedal, and rolled through the set to a 25-14 victory.

They used that momentum to outlast the Chargers in both set 2 & 3 to roll to a straight set victory: 25-14, 25-12, 25-22.

Medrado again narrowly missed notching a triple-double with 7 kills, 18 assists, and 11 digs. Genesis Milisde & Baylee Lippincott added 10 & 6 blocks respectively. Hannah Bullock continued her epic season in the digs column of the stat sheet with 20, as fellow sophomore teammate Abby Bigler added 13.

Coach Sien said after the game, “We had good wins in the first 2 sets. A slow start and some technical issues contributed to a large deficit in the 3rd, but we were able to rebound late in the set, and storm back.”

The victory moves the Lady Blazers to 12-and-2 on the season. Their only losses have come against top 25 ranked teams (#6 Indian Hills, #17 Mineral Area). The team will look to continue their early season success as they head to Lincoln Trail College on Tuesday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. EST. Go Trailblazers!
