Roth’s Double-Double Helps Vincennes University Winning Streak Reach 9 Games

Harrisburg, IL – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers traveled to Southeastern Illinois and came away with a convincing 76-52 victory over the District P Rival Lady Falcons.

The Lady Trailblazers jumped on Southeastern Illinois early, holding a 21-point lead after the first quarter, and continued to roll into half-time leading 40-23. Freshman Janiya Davis came off the bench to lead the scoring charge ending the half with 12 points. Sophomore Ladellia Maggett also got things started early for Vincennes scoring 11 points in the first 20 minutes of action.

The second-half of the game is where the VU defense put the clamps down on the Southeastern offense, forcing 21 turnovers for the game, 13 resulting in steals. Sophomore Mykel Roth joined in offensively scoring 9 of her 15 points in the final two quarters of play. Freshman Marquitta Easley was hitting from distance tonight also, hitting 3 of her game-high 5 3-pointers in the second-half.

Ladellia Maggett and Easley lead the Lady Trailblazers in scoring with 19 points each, Maggett also recorded 6 assists. Mykel Roth ended her night with 15 points and 11 rebounds, which is her second double-double of the season. Janiya Davis rounds out the VU scorers in double figures with 14 points and 6 steals.

Vincennes returns home to face District P Opponent Rend Lake College on Saturday, January 13th, at 5 p.m. eastern.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
