Track & Field Signs Illinois State Champion Jazzmine Poole

Vincennes, IN – The Vincennes University Women’s Track & Field made a big addition to the 2017 recruiting class by signing Illinois state champ in the discus Jazzmine Poole of East St. Louis.

Poole leaves East St. Louis High School as one of the most accomplished throwers in school history. She holds personal bests of 149’6” in the discus, and 42’ 3 ¾” in the shot put. Poole finished 10th, 5th, and then 1st in the discus the last three seasons at the Illinois State Track and Field Meet hosted by Eastern Illinois, and also never finished further back than 2nd in a discus competition this year. Poole’s personal best throw of 149’6” would have been the 7th best throw in the NJCAA during the 2017 Outdoor Season.  She appears to be just the piece the Trailblazers needed to sure-up what is turning out to be a very strong throwing contingent with 4xAll-American stand-out Jamesha Western returning for her sophomore season.

Coach Gafner said of signing Jazzmine Poole, “We are really excited to have signed a high caliber student-athlete like Jazzmine Poole. She has the ability to help us right away, and the potential to be one of the top throwers in the NJCAA by the time she is done at Vincennes University.”
