VU Men’s Basketball Set to Host Jamboree

Vincennes, IN – The Vincennes University Men’s Basketball team is set to host their Jamboree this Sunday which will feature several big name preparatory and Junior College teams who are expected to make quite a bit of noise this upcoming season.

First, your Vincennes University Trailblazers. The Trailblazers are coming off of their 5th consecutive trip to the NJCAA National Tournament. Last year the Blazers lost on a last-second, 40-foot buzzer beater to #2 seed South Plains. Despite graduating 1st team All-American Chris Darrington to Tennessee, along with Sophomore rim protectors Romaro Gill & Danius Chatkevicius heading to Seton Hall & Evansville respectively, the team comes in with what seems to be a very explosive roster.

Vincennes returns NJCAA 5th team All-American Isaiah “Pun” Tisdale. Sophomore Sehill Mouliom played in the NJCAA pre-season top-100 camp this summer as well. The Trailblazers also added several big-time freshmen to the roster including: Lonny Francis, and Jayrese Williams, who broke Scott May’s all-time scoring record at Sandusky high school last year. The Blazers come in ranked as the #9 team in the NJCAA according to Street & Smith’s Magazine, and are expected to be a top-10 team in the country when the pre-season NJCAA Polls are released in just a few short weeks.

Head of Coach Todd Franklin said, “People will get to see 24 great teams, 16 Junior Colleges, this weekend. Some great teams, as well as great teams in the region will be represented here. You will see wall-to-wall basketball from Noon until about 6 p.m. Basketball fans will get a great afternoon of basketball. The players will play hard, there will be a lot of recruiters in the stands, and it’s a great way to bring business to the community. For our team, it will be the first time we have played this year. I expect us to do some things really well, I expect us to need to work on some things, but fans will get a chance to see our guys, and see some great basketball. It’s great for the teams, but even better for the fans. Everything is right here, and convenient to watch. You pay one time, and you get to watch all the games you want. Great way to showcase excitement for the basketball season being right around the corner.”

The Field includes several big names such as: Rend Lake & Rock Valley, who both have won NJCAA National Titles in their respective divisions in the last handful of years. South Suburban is always one of the better teams in the NJCAA, rival John A. Logan will be in participation, and Aspire Academy brings in the #5 ranked Junior in the United States in Charles Bassey.

The 2017 Vincennes University Jamboree is expected to be one of the best Junior College Showcases in the entire country, and promises to showcase some of the nation’s most elite Junior College and Prep Talent. Cost of admission is $5, and tickets can be purchased at the gate of the Vincennes University P.E. Complex. Be sure to make your way out this Sunday and watch some great play to kick-off the 2017-18 basketball season!
