VU Trailblazers keep hold on No. 1 in first NJCAA men's hoops poll of 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Vincennes University Men’s Basketball Team entered the 2015 calendar year right where it left the 2014 year – at the top of the NJCAA Div. I Men’s Basketball Poll. The season’s latest rankings were released earlier today and the Trailblazers remain at No. 1, where they have resided all season and in the preseason poll.

VU (15-0) garnered 11 first place votes to outdistance the poll’s runner-up, Northwest Florida State (17-0), which hung in at No. 2 after being in a tie with College of Southern Idaho for the second spot prior to the holidays. Southern Idaho (18-0) is third this week, followed by Butler (15-0) and Hill (13-1) to round out the Top 5.

The rest of the Top 10 this week are:
·    6(T). Hutchinson (13-1),
·    6(T). Southwest Tennessee (11-1),
·    8. Connors State (14-1),
·    9. Eastern Florida State (17-1), and,
·    10. Indian Hills (14-2).

The second top 10 teams this week, in order, are 11. Odessa (13-1), 12(T). Mineral Area (18-1), 12(T).  Southeastern (16-1), 14. Cochise (14-1), 15. Salt Lake (15-3), 16. Coffeyville (14-2), 17. Harcum (14-2), 18. Gillette (14-2), 19. Pearl River (9-0) and 20. Trinity Valley (14-3).

The Trailblazers will host NJCAA District 16 foe John A. Logan (11-2) Wednesday and then head to Southwestern Illinois in Belleville IL, on Saturday.
