At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

VUVB Adds Ariana Gentzler to 2018 Recruiting Class

Vincennes, IN – The Vincennes University Volleyball team is proud to announce the signing of Ariana Gentzler. Gentzler is the daughter of Darren and Clarissa Gentzler, and is from Paxton Buckley Loda High School in Illinois. Ariana is a 6-foot-tall middle blocker and opposite hitter, who plans to major in Horticulture Technology at Vincennes University.

Gentzler has garnered several honors before signing with VU including; All Sangamon Valley Conference, All Tournament (PBL Classic and Timber Tip Off), News Gazette All-Area, and Team Co-Most Valuable Player. In 2017 Ariana led her team with 216 kills and had 47 blocks. Gentzler is a three-sport athlete in high school, competing in the long jump, high jump, and the triple jump events in Track and Field, and led her high school’s basketball team with 8.3 rebounds per game. Gentzler was also second on her team in scoring with 8.9 points per game and was All-Ford County Team and Sangamon Valley Conference Team.

PBL coach Lindsay Muehlbauer said, "We are happy to see Ariana continuing her volleyball career at Vincennes University.  She has steadily improved all four years of playing volleyball in high school and we look forward to seeing her continue to improve throughout college.  Her best volleyball is yet to come."

VUVB coach Gary Sien added, "We saw Ariana play in January 2017 and we were immediately interested! She brings an aggressive game to the net and as a middle hitter, she can hit sets in front and behind the setter. Ariana is versatile enough to play at one of the pin positions as well. She has done well in her other sports and she comes from an athletic family background as her siblings are college track athletes ".
