At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.

VUVB Adds Kloie McGrew to Exceptional 2018 Recruiting Class

Vincennes, IN – The Vincennes University Volleyball team is excited to announce the signing of Kloie McGrew out of Burris Laboratory School in Muncie, Indiana.

Kloie McGrew is the daughter of Peter McGrew and Mark and Jessica Terry. McGrew is a 5 – 6 defensive specialist/setter, who is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in Behavioral Science. Kloie was named as her team’s Most Valuable Player at Muncie Burris, whose 21 volleyball state championships is most in IHSAA history. McGrew also garnered First Team All-Pioneer Conference, and Shondell Invitaional All-Tournament honors, as well as leading her team to the Shondell Tournament championship. In 2017, Kloie had 731 set assists (1507 career assists), and 188 digs.

Burris coach Mike Dodrill said, "I can describe Kloie like this; most of the time I would initially say this to my assistant coaches or players nearby, "man she is good, what a save, what a set!" then "Lois (her team nickname), that was a college level play, beautiful job!" The number of passes and plays she made for us this year was amazing. We had to constantly tell our hitters to never give up hope of making an attack. She will find you somehow, even when there is no thoughtful chance, and you'll find yourself scrambling to hit an amazing set. She will be missed greatly, and she is the most underrated setter in the state in my opinion".

VUVB coach Gary Sien had this to say about signing McGrew, "We welcome another exceptional student-athlete to the fold! We are a middle hitter oriented offense and Kloie has experience setting a Division I middle attacker (Mykel Ivy, Ball State University) at Burris. She is also an excellent student and we expect her to do well there too. Kloie has also received extensive training from Munciana volleyball club so her ball control skills are excellent. She will be charged with running the Blazer offense which hit at a near top 10 level in the NJCAA for the past 2 seasons".
