The table below shows the percentage of students who
completed their starting degree program. On-time completions (100%) include two (2) full academic years, i.e. degrees awarded from the entering fall through the second summer. Completions at 150% include three (3) full academic years, or degrees awarded from the entering fall through the third summer. All results include degrees awarded through Spring 2017, as degrees have not yet been conferred for Summer 2017. Note that full "time to completion" has not yet elapsed for Fall 2014 at 150% or Fall 2015 at 100% and 150%, so these results may increase.

Rates should be interpreted with caution as all program majors began with fewer than 100 students in a given fall cohort year, many of which had fewer than 25 students enrolled in the entering fall class.

Campus Safety



The College of Business and Public Service will provide a safe and secure campus environment by cooperating with the VU Campus Police Department, and Student Cadet System.

Annual Security Report filed by Campus Police which is available on The VU website.  As of the writing of this report, new infor-mation was only available for 2014 and 2015. The link to this site is in the evidence file.

Over the past 2 years, the Burglary offenses have decreased especially in 2015.  The alcohol offenses have decreased from 2013 and held steady and the drug offenses have also decreased signify-cantly for 2015.

Safety on VU campus is a concern as nationally the shooting tragedies have become sadly commonplace.  The 3 areas reported on this chart are very minor offenses compared to the major problems our society faces now.  The focus on campus has been made dealing with people entering classrooms/buildings meaning harm to people in general.  Safety initiatives include community oriented patrols covering all areas of the campus, an expansive Emergency Blue Light System covering many areas of the university campus, and a pro-active Crime Prevention Program designed to educate and inform all university personnel on “best practices’ to avoid becoming a victim. 

Since the 2015 Q/A Report, continued use of the Crime Alert warning system has been beneficial warning employees and students of offenses such as murder, sex offenses, robbery, motor vehicle theft, arson, hate crimes, etc.  These alerts are provided via the VU email system, Vu-EAlert Text messaging System, the VU website, and VU Radio and TV stations.  These alerts also include severe weather and hazardous materials incidents as well.


Distance Education offerings

Enhance Business and IT course offerings via alternative delivery methods to meet the needs of students

On an annual basis the College Dean, Department Chairs, faculty for the business programs, and the distance education coordinator determine which courses should be developed for internet-based delivery.  The number of courses varies according to student demand and faculty availability.

For 2013-14 total online enrollment in Business and Information Technology courses was 1,366.  For 2014-15 total online enrollment was 1,447—an increase of 6% over the 2013-14 year. For 2015-16 total online enrollment was 1,075—a decrease of 26% from the previous year.  For the 2016-17 year, total online enrollment was 1,218—an increase of 13% over the previous year.

The demand for online business courses is evident but overall numbers have been fluctuating each year as evidenced in the chart provided.  Support for Distance Education development is strong at Vincennes University.  Because there are fewer NEW online course offerings needed, the Distance Education area is continuing the focus on QUALITY of instruction and retention/success. According to their assessment plan, they will focus more on advertising their available free tutoring on their FB site, Twitter feed, sending email reminders and other methods to the students who enroll in online courses.  Assessment of the tutoring cohort has shown an 85% pass rate with grades (A-C) (see evidence file Co-Curricular Program Assessment Plan Fall 2015-Spring 2016 for more details.)

All Business and IT instructors have completed the Distance Education Blackboard course for instructors.  (This is a requirement for faculty to continue to teach online courses at VU). The Distance Education staff are continuing to implement activities to aid student success/retention including the Creation of an Online Student Orientation, giving students experience with online courses before the semester begins.  Also, Virtual Tutoring was piloted in 2015--with 6 part-time coaches and a program coordinator assisting with Blackboard Collaborate.   A Student Help Button  is now added to all online courses used to enhance student success.


Number of Graduates

The Business department will have at least 60 graduates per year.


The IT department will also have a minimum of 60 graduates per year. (this is a higher number from the 2015 report)

Degrees awarded by Department are reported from the Institutional Research Department at VU.  These graduates are from the Vincennes Main Campus, the Jasper Campus, Plainfield campus, and also some were students taking Distance Education courses exclusively.

The Business/

Manage-ment Department had an average of    126 graduates for the reporting years 2015-2017.  The Information Technology Department averaged 54 graduates for the same reporting years.

The Business/Management Department has averaged above the 60 graduate goal set, and the IT Department has seen a consistent number of graduates as well. Recent Indiana state requirements focus on increasing college graduation rates. Subsequent financial support has added an additional importance to the Vincennes University Administration regarding retention and graduation rates.  Success, as measured by the Indiana government, is strictly tied to graduating students for employment/transfer, no longer just considering FTE headcounts in classrooms for funding formulas.

Many of the IT students/AS graduates are deciding to stay at VU and finish their BS degree in Technology with an IT concentration.  This BS degree first became available in 2010-11.  Currently, the 300 and 400 level Information Technology courses are having enrollments averaging 15 students per section. The IT Department will continue to work to support this objective in having additional students receive their BS degree.

For the Self-Study Report both Departments will raise their graduation goals to 70 graduates per year (across Main Campus, Jasper Campus, Plainfield,  and online).
